How many times have you thanked God today?
The time is currently 7:13pm and in the last hour, I have thanked God about a minimum of 50 times. Pretty impressive, huh?! 🙂
Prior to an hour ago, however, my praise record was less than impressive. Some might even call it embarrassing as I had not really taken the time to praise God much throughout my day. Scripture tells us in Psalms 118:1 – “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.”
Simply put, because God’s faithfulness and love never ends, we should continually praise Him! 🙌🏾
With all the inclement weather impact happening around the country, it’s easy to get caught up in the early morning office chatter about the snowy commute into work and/or the crazy weather and/or how bad the roads are and/or how terrible people drive, etc. And before you know it, the day has gotten away from you and it ends with the same negative chatter that you allowed it to start with.
How about we change that narrative and start each day as Psalms 118:1 instructs us to; giving thanks to God because He’s good?
How about we start the day thanking God for everything?
This evening, I spent 20 minutes after work driving in the opposite direction from home to drop something off to a business that I later found out was closed. What a huge fail and frustration! I was SUPER frustrated and annoyed that I had wasted time driving in the snowy weather only to find out that I had wasted time. As I slowly traveled back home, God reminded me that His faithfulness endures forever. Regardless of my frustration, God is still good. Regardless of how annoyed I was, it doesn’t discount the fact that God still covered me and gave traveling mercy. I still had a reason to praise God. God reminded me that my situation does not dictate His faithfulness. He is good and His mercy endures forever. Those extra 20 minutes in the car gave me an opportunity to thank God just because.
I would like to encourage you to take every moment as an opportunity to give thanks unto the Lord for His goodness because He is good!
