What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the statement, “I need a fix?”
Honestly, what do you think of?
Today I’m referring to the fact that I need a fix of Jesus. I literally NEED to keep my eyes fixed on the only one who can save, deliver and bless me.
Psalms chapter 141 verse 8 says so plainly:
“But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: In thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.” Psalm 141:8
To have your eyes unto something means you are locked in on that thing. It doesn’t mean that distractions don’t exist, but it means that in spite of the distractions, you are still primarily focused on this one thing. At home when it’s time to focus and get homework or studying done, I’ll say to the kids, “okay it’s time to lock in.” In this context, “locking in” means it’s time to get off the phone, or turn off the television and just really focus in on the task ahead.
Right now is definitely the time for all of us to lock into Jesus. It’s time to ignore the distractions and focus in on who God is, what God is doing and the task that God has for you.
Distractions never stop. Phone calls don’t cease. Text messages and long conversations about the same old topics seem never ending. The world around us never slows down; it’s always moving. But in spite of all of the movement and the things going on around me, my eyes are fixed on MY God who can supply all MY need according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
In spite of what you might be distracted with or how you are feeling, lock into Jesus in a way that you never have. For some of us, that means to become more consistent in our prayer life. For others, locking into Jesus means to read God’s Word daily and meditate on what He’s speaking. All of us can benefit from spending time in the presence of the Lord to hear from Him.
Sometimes our feelings can get in the way. I’m learning not to let my feelings dictate what I’m most concerned about. Honestly, if I had to live life based on how I feel, most days I would never even get out of bed. But with Jesus at the forefront of my thoughts, I’m led to fix my eyes and heart on Jesus, who is the author and finisher of my faith.
Let us lock in and stay fixed on Jesus who is our strength, our provider, our hope and our peace.
Let’s lock in and get a fix of Jesus!
